While yoga teachers do of course want you to come to our weekly classes, you will get more of out of your yoga experience if you also practice some at home.
Your home practice can be very different from the yoga classes you attend regularly. This is your time to pick and choose your favorite yoga poses in order to make them part of your daily routine.
If you are new to a personal yoga practice, start simple. Begin by choosing just one, two, or no more than three poses to practice at home. Make sure these are fairly simple poses that you feel comfortable getting into without your teacher’s direction. Ask your yoga teacher if you need help picking poses to work on at home.
You might select poses to help you achieve a particular goal. For example, certain poses are calming and would work well before bed, while more active and invigorating poses are best done in the morning or afternoon. You might want to choose poses that can help you stretch a particular area of your body or that help you feel a certain way after holding them.
Many of us worked online during the pandemic from home. Maybe you have found your simple cross-legged pose more uncomfortable than before after spending so much time sitting at a computer. There are several poses that can help you once again find comfort in sitting cross-legged as can adding adding some time spent in simple cross-legged pose at home.
Your personal yoga practice of even just fifteen minutes can bring huge benefits to you when done most days of the week.
